Our audience will be both men and women and the age range will be 15-25 years old. It won't be aimed at any particular social class or occupation. This is so that we can get a wider range of audiences. They don't have to have any special or particular interests apart from an interest in horror films. They may have had emotional experiences in relationships (where they may have felt powerless or trapped) so they can relate to Alison's character. Our audience will need to have a certain amount of knowledge to keep up with what is going on in the film.
With Mcquail and Katz's theory of gratification audiences can select the media they use for dieversion, identification, entertainment or social interaction. Our traget audience will probably use our film for entertainment and social interaction.
Using the Rubicam and Young's theory our audience would be the succeeder and explorer as they have a lot of self confidence, they are traditional and authentic. They would probably relate to Chad the male lead as he has a lot of self confidence. And also Alison as she is strong and is able to stand up to Chad. The aspirers will probably relate to Jenny- Chad's friend and Sara Chad's fiancee as they are both sensitive and seek admiration and attention. The Mainstreem would relate to Alison as they are calm and caring and avoid confrotations
