Textual Analysis: Bride of Frankenstein
The opening titles are very big and the music is very dramatic and all the cast is shown before the film starts. This is different from The Strangers and Let the right one in because they only showed the names of the director and porducers and the lead actors only. The first shot is an establishing shot with a storm with thunder and lightning and it looks like some woods or a deserted area. This goes with the generic convetion of horror films which says that there is usually a location some where in the middle of no where. The sound heard is of the wind and thunder. There is a castle which looks haunted, when we see the inside it doesn't really reflect to what it looks like outside. The music changes and it sounds elegant and relaxing like something you would hear in a romantic film. I like this because it contrasts with the thunder outside. This would be something i would like to do in our film because the music sounds happy and sort of romantic but the thunder gives it a dark undertone, which suggests that everything may seem fine, but things will go wrong.
